SEYMOUR, IND., October 9, 2009 – Aisin Holdings of America (AHA), a subsidiary of the Aisin Group, a global, Tier One automotive supplier and components manufacturer, today announced that Aisin Group will transfer part of its automobile brake production business to the ADVICS Group.
ADVICS was established in July, 2001, when Aisin, Denso Corporation, Sumitomo Electric Industries, and Toyota Motor Corporation joined together to create a company to develop and sell automotive brake systems. Aisin has since produced and supplied components for ADVICS’ brake system development.
With the penetration of clean energy vehicles, Hybrids and ITS technology in the global automotive industry, the demand for product innovation has increased significantly, especially in the automotive supply sector. Additionally, global demand for small and low-cost cars is further intensifying competition between low-cost components producers according to Kenji Tsujimura, president & CEO, AHA.
“It is under these circumstances that both Aisin and ADVICS recognized that the foundations of the brake business could be strengthened by enhancing product and cost competitiveness, and streamlining business operations with further collaboration in development and production,” said Tsujimura.
Details of the Agreement include:
- Partial transfer of Aisin production facilities in Kariya City, Aichi, Japan, including its subsidiary, AS Brake Systems, Inc., stock and property to ADVICS by April 1, 2010.
- In North America, AHA, Seymour, Ind., will transfer stock of Aisin Brake & Chassis, Inc., Terre Haute, Ind., to ADVICS North America, Plymouth, Mich.
